Psalm 50:1-3

The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets. From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.

Christians have different views about the second coming (of course mine is the correct one – but I’m not telling you!), but we all agree on this.  Jesus is coming again and there will be a day of judgement – a day when all wrongs will be put right.  I wonder how much we are like the early church who frequently prayed ‘Maranatha’ – even so come soon Lord Jesus!

A Prayer of Repentance:   Lord Jesus, we confess that we do not long for your return as much as we should.  Sometimes when we see the mess in this world, we long for it to be over.  Help us instead to long for you – to know that when we see you, we shall be like you,  for your glory.  Amen.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving:  Our Father, we praise your name.  You are good and the giver of all things good.  You give us all things richly to enjoy.  May we worship you the Giver, rather than the gifts, In Jesus name. Amen.
